"Raped Ass" EP "Swedish Punk" sleeve variation
This is likely the rarest sleeve variation of "Raped Ass." (Next would be the Really Fast Rec. pressing without the drawing of the violin on the inside of the sleeve.) Instead of the price "10 Kr.," which appears on the two normal sleeves of "Raped Ass," this one says "Swedish Punk." The two-piece sleeve is printed on the thin paper commonly considered the second pressing. The paper stock is similar to that of the domestic version of the Skitslickers EP. Notably, this pressing includes an insert, which is not included with any other pressing. (A later pressing of "VOAB," on Hardcore Horror Rec., includes an insert, unlike the earlier pressings.)
This copy sold on eBay in 2005 for $250; this photo comes from that auction. The seller told me it came from an old German punker, who bought it at an Anti-Cimex gig in 1984. I'm not positive Anti-Cimex played in Germany, but it would have made sense to change the cover so that it didn't include a price denominated in Swedish currency for copies sold outside Sweden.
This is a partly unoffical release
I made a comment a few month ago or I might have dreamed it. Here it is again. The only white label Raped Ass is the Really Fast press. According to the guys in Really Fast a few records was shipped for promo use. The receiver, famous for sleeve versions, is the prime suspect for making these sleeve. It should be 5 of them. The insert is from another release I beleive (but I can't remember exactly). It make sense it was sold around they year when the Really Fast Press came out. I have seen 3 copies like this... All from collectors in the Gothenburg area....
On the "Swedish punk" sleeve.
The record is from the Really Fast press, the only white label version done. As the Really fast guys lost the original to the sleeve after making 150 copies, the remaing got a xerox version of the A-record sleeve. A few of there records was shipped to Mr Bodenmalm (5 possible). From that we can draw the assumption that he discarded the (in his opinion) bad xerox sleeves and made a few new ones where the price "10 kr" was replaced with "Swedish Punk". The insert for this release comes from a another release and has been added later (this sleeve was made in 1984 or less possible in 1985) and the insert was made later, can't remeber exact when. And finally to clearify: A) There is to my knowledge no second A-record press. B) There is only one Hhr press (with some sleeve version that has been presented on this site). Another fun part, told by Patrik at Really Fast - one of the A-records records have a large center hole.
Btw - love this site....
I really doubt that this
I really doubt that this record was bought at a show in Germany in 1984. This is a 4th or 5th pressing of this record with one of Mats Bodenmalms numerous sleeve variations. It should have been pressed around 1986-1987...... I guess. It is definately not one of the first three pressing anyway.
